Everyone, meet Rebecca! She is the blogger, photographer and mama behind Simple as That. I am in awe of her style and completely obsessed with her monthly photo collages and the way she keeps track of her kids artwork! Let’s be honest, I want to be just like her. ;-) So….I asked her how she does it. Take a peak below as she dishes on motherhood, photography and keeping it, simple as that.

She is also giving away a set of her ebooks, Real. Life. Photography, 40 Top Tips for Better Photos and Don’t Say Cheese. And that’s not all – also a $25 gift certificate to her digi store. I’m on my way to buy her monthly collage builder template right now – it’s so sweet!

1) How has motherhood changed your perspective on the importance of historical documentation?
I didn’t truly start diving into photography until I had my first child in 2002. Since then taking photos has been such a big part of my life – there is such a desire to preserve those precious moments of your child’s life that comes the moment they’re born. I love taking images for clients, but at the end of the day, my true joy and passion still comes from taking photos of my little family and the everyday moments that mean so much to us. The Top Five Things I love about my Tote & Shoot – and some of my favorite photos from our trip below.

1. The size!
The idea of having to leave the house with a diaper bag AND a camera bag is enough to make any mama cringe. So, this bag allows me to take just ONE bag. It’s big enough to fit my big girl camera, an extra lens and any number of odds and ends that I might need for the kiddos – diapers, wipes, water and snacks. And it has a comfortable strap to make the lug just that much easier. I just recently used this bag as my carry-on to Wisconsin – and it was perfect. It fit so nicely under the seat in front of me, and was extremely easy to unload and get through security.

Tips to capturing natural smiles

My two year old has reached the inevitable “cheese” face phase. It’s fake, it’s canned, it’s painful to look at. We know it all too well. The forced, wide -toothed grin that has, “Are we done yet?” written all over it. It’s a look that has boggled mothers and photographers for centuries. It’s a face […]
