Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing mamas out there! It’s the hardest, most rewarding job on earth.
My day started with the presentation of a beautiful home-made card at 6:00 a.m. Then my incredible husband made me crepes with Nutella and bananas – insert SQUEAL here – I haven’t had these in soooooo many years! I told him it was just like being back in Paris during college – except for the Nutella really was going to go right to my hips this time.
OK, so in reality, this scene was quite a bit different than it was in Paris years ago. I was experiencing these crepes with a few less hours of sleep (ok, a lot), a daughter to the right of me spitting them out and saying that she just wants bacon (she is her mother’s daughter), a son to the left of me wondering if his milk is going to have remnants of hazelnuts and my adoring, smiling husband as head chef.
That’s my life.
I wouldn’t change it for anything in the whole world.
Years ago, I would have sworn that nothing would EVER compare to the crepes I had from the street vendors in Paris – but you know what?
These were better.
It’s amazing how a whole lotta love makes even the best things in life that much sweeter.
