The beach. It’s our happy place. Toes in the sand, breeze in our face, not a care in the world to bring us back to reality… There was just no other choice for Piper’s one year shoot. It was calling our name, calling her name. There is a freedom there. A feeling. Sand. My photographs and my soul come alive at the beach.
I know all of you don’t have beaches. But, we all have our happy place. So go there. Just make sure the light is good. 😉
This shoot is all about magic hour and shooting with the most humungous, most illuminous, most amazing light source in the world – our sun. Pure, simple, unfiltered. There are so many fears about shooting in broad daylight – so let me show you how to do it! It can be done and it can be incredible. It just takes a little planning and a little understanding of some simple concepts that anyone can implement.
The shoot starts in broad daylight, but then utilizes all of the aspects of what is known as “magic hour” or the hour before the sun sinks into the horizon. It’s the most glowing, beautiful, warm, soft light that you can find. I want you to get out there and find you some!
The one year video will cover all of my strategies and camera settings when shooting in the sun and also some bonus indoor flash stuff at the end. The video is not ready for release just yet, but soon after the 9 month video is out, I’ll be releasing it. So, I encourage you to sign up for my FREE video series (newborn, 3 month and 6 month videos) HERE – so that I can keep you updated on these new releases.
Here are some of the photos that I captured during Piper’s one year shoot. We started at the beach and ended with a few at our home. Enjoy!
